Bachelor’s Regalia
Description
- A traditional black gown adorned with the Georgia Tech seal. Plain black robes are not allowed.
- Caps are traditional mortarboards with white and gold tassels. You may decorate your mortarboard provided it does not distract from the ceremony or others. Decorations are subject to the Institute's Freedom of Expression policy.
- Stoles and cords may be worn to signify academic honors.

Honor Cords
Description
- Exclusively for undergraduate students who have earned the designation of academic honors.
- The color of the cord signifies the level of honors:
- White for honors.
- Gold for high honors.
- White and gold braided for highest honors.
Master’s Regalia
Description
- Traditional black grown adorned with the Georgia Tech seal and with full-length square sleeves and a crescent piece hanging from each sleeve. Undergraduate gowns are not acceptable.
- Master’s hoods are lined in white and gold and colors appropriate to your major.
- Caps are traditional mortarboards and tassels are white and gold. You may decorate your mortarboard provided it does not distract from the ceremony or others. Decorations are subject to the Institute's Freedom of Expression policy.

- Cost: $134.98 (Includes cap, gown, tassel, and hood).

Additional Master's Hood
Additional hoods may be purchase in-store at Barnes & Noble while supplies last.
Doctoral Regalia
Description
- Customized gold regalia with full rounded sleeves, velvet facings on the front, and velvet bars on the sleeves.
- Candidates are advised to order their regalia early, as it is custom fitted.
- A six-pointed tam.
- Hoods are lined with Georgia Tech colors.

- Cost: $1,365.95
- Cost includes $19.95 for optional shipping if not picking up in the bookstore.
- Tax is not included in this total.
- Includes gown, tam, and hood.
- Order Deadline: Friday, Oct. 4
- Rent
- Location: Barnes & Noble at Georgia Tech, both in-store or online.
- Cost: $824.98
- Cost includes $89.98 rental fee, $133 tam purchase, $202 hood purchase, and a $400 refundable rental deposit.
- Graduates will keep the tam and the hood. The gown is the only rental item.
- Order Deadline: Friday, Nov. 1
- Late Order Fee: $50
- Additional Information: The tam is yours to keep—only the gown is rented.

Doctoral Regalia for Faculty
- Faculty and staff ordering custom doctoral gowns must purchase the doctoral hood separately.
- Faculty may rent faculty regalia for the ceremony.
Regalia Adornments
- Graduates may enhance their regalia with decorations such as cords, stoles, tassel decorations, medallions, and patches.
- Only adornments from Institute-recognized organizations or programs are allowed.
- It is your responsibility to acquire any entitled adornments directly from the respective organization.
- Student organizations or Institute-approved programs must submit stole designs for approval to the Registrar’s office. Please see the "Procedures" section of the Commencement Regalia policy if you are interested.

Regalia Policy
All graduates and faculty must wear traditional academic regalia at commencement. The Institute encourages expression of identity and values through appropriate additions to standard regalia.
Regalia Payment Assistance
Assistance for regalia is provided to graduates in need, with separate request processes for undergraduate and graduate students.
Undergraduate Students
- Apply via the Gowns for Grads Program form.
- The program is a collaboration between the Georgia Tech Parents Fund and Barnes & Noble Bookstore and is available to a select number of undergraduates.
