Will I still earn my degree if I don't walk?
Yes, students will still earn their degrees and be able to graduate in their designated semester, consistent with academic standards.
Will I still receive my diploma?
Yes, diplomas will mailed 8 weeks after degrees are conferred. Students are encouraged to check their diploma mailing address in OSCAR. If you have a question about your diploma mailing address or need to update, please email email@example.com
What if I’m unable to attend the Spring 2021 ceremony?
All Spring 2021 graduates and 2020 graduates will have the option to apply to walk in the Fall 2021 ceremony. Information regarding the fall semester ceremonies will be published in September 2021.
Students are encouraged to complete our ceremony preference form to indicate their preference and receive email updates.
Will bachelor's students still receive their honor cords? Will doctoral students still receive their hood?
Spring 2021 graduates will have the option to pick up their honor cords or Ph.D. hood during Commencement week. Updates will be posted on the regalia page.
I'm a Summer 2021 graduate. Can I participate in the spring ceremony?
Summer students may request to participate in the spring ceremony. More information can be found on our summer students page.
How many tickets will I receive for ceremony?
Ticketing information for the Spring 2021 ceremony can be found on our ticketing page. All guests must have a ticket for entry.
I RSVPed for the ceremony but can no longer attend. Can I give my tickets to another student?
By registering for guest tickets, you are indicating your participation in the Spring 2021 ceremony. If you elect to not attend, your guest tickets will be voided. Students may not register to attend to receive tickets on behalf of another student.
Will you have options for me to participate virtually?
The Commencement Office is considering creative options to involve graduates who are unable to attend the ceremony in person. We will stream all ceremonies live at commencement.gatech.edu for anyone unable to attend.
What changes can I expect to the fall ceremony to accommodate public health guidelines?
All of our ceremony modifications will be listed on our venue and ceremony information page.
I RSVPed for the Fall 2020 ceremony but did not attend. Can I still participate?
Yes, students who submitted an RSVP but did not attend or scan in any guest tickets may attend the Spring 2021 ceremony. Please complete our ceremony preference form to be added to our email list and RSVP system. Submissions will not be accepted later than March 17, 2021.
A new RSVP is required to attend the Spring 2021 ceremony.
Will you mix spring, summer, and fall graduates in each ceremony?

Can I walk in multiple Commencement ceremonies?
Students may only participate in one commencement ceremony and will be required to communicate their preference to the Commencement Office by the end of that semester’s RSVP period . Details on registration will be available at the start of each semester.
If I'm a Spring 2021 graduate, do I have to participate in the May ceremony?
No, Spring 2021 graduates may elect to participate in a later ceremony. Students will have the option to register an email address with the Commencement Office to stay in touch and receive ceremony updates to return at a later date.
